The differences is less CCD vs. CMOS and more how each maker optimizes the CFA, microlenses, and AA filter. Leica claims to have worked out with the sensor maker a system that closely matches the M9's CCD. Leica also says they have incorporated lens corrections for the R lenses. Time and comparisons will tell.
