Solutions:
1) Set shutterspeed to something other than 1/40 second.
2) Learn how to shoot manually by centering the needle.
3) Use the Green box mode.
4) Use P mode and set the ISO to 400 or 800 and don\'t worry.
5) Get an Incident Light Meter and set the exposure that way.
6) Meter off a grey card and lock the exposure.
7) Use this Exposure Chart at ISO 200. Use 1/500 sec for ISO 400 and 1/1000 sec for ISO 800:
