Bought from KEH a few months ago as EX+. Already have one of this lens and decided I don't need the extra copy. Very clear glass, mechanically perfect. Pretty hard to find. Some people think it deserves an L!

More compact and less expensive than the 24mm f/1.4L, this lens uses all spherical lens elements and has a fast speed of f/2.
Shortening the overall length of its lens system, using smaller front lens elements and moving the diaphragm forward contribute to its compact and light weight design; its total length is 50.6mm and weight is 285 grams. Use Floating System to improve optical performance at close range. To summarize it up, a good alternative if budget doesn't fit but still assure pleasing optical results in all aspects.

A very appealing lens blending good lens speed and a compact design. Using high refraction glass for improved optical performance. Alternating four convex and concave lenses in the front lens group serves to curb distortion, astigmatism and coma. The use of the floating system also aimed to maintain high quality pictures even at its closest focusing distance of 30cm, Compared to the earlier original FD 28mm f/2.0 lens, this lens is 24 percent shorter in overall length and 23 percent lighter.

This lens is composed of 5 groups and 5 elements without using a single cemented lens. It is very small in size and light weight.
The elements are properly arranged, handling is well-balanced and the lens on the front end is made thick. A very popular and reasonably priced lens for new photographers who are looking for a second lens other than the standard 50mm lens. The bright f2.8 is indeed luxurious enough when compared with most slow speed zoom lenses.

Much more compact in size than the f2.0 version. This lens has a telephoto ratio of 0.88 and an overall length of only 78mm.
The use of a cemented convex/concave lens in the third group corrects spherical aberration while a concave lens effectively controls rising flares. Designed for handling ease and compromise between speed and economy, good substitute for the bigger brother if price is a factor to be considered.
