As a new member here, I\'d say I hope you give us a chance. Everybody started at zero at one point. With PayPal, when I sell something, I always get that money out of the PayPal account as soon as I can, just in case.

As a buyer, I\'m more leary about sellers with no feedback since they money moves before the product does.

I guess I\'m in the same boat. I had no idea that having no feedback would be such a problem. My thought is if I want to give someone money in exchange for their used gear, why would they care whether I have feedback. Heck I\'m willing to send a check or MO to a well-respected member with great feedback. Wouldn\'t all the risk be on me? For me, a seller with no feedback is scary, but don\'t understand the problem of a buyer with no feedback. Of course, I have very little experience with PayPal, so must be missing something obvious.

I left the following message on one of the listings (I was trying to buy a 40D). In a nutshell, how does a newbie on B&S get the ability to purchase?

I am wondering if there is some sort of initiation or something one must go through to be able to purchase on this B&S forum. I ask because I have the cash that I want to give someone in exchange for their 40D. I know the two big camera shops, and KEH will take my money, but I wanted to buy here. Over the past few days I have sent PMs to 3 different sellers of the 40D, and also at least one e-mail, and received no response. I know I am doing something wrong because each of the sellers has high ratings and is obviously a respected member on this forum.

My PM/e-mail to each was basically the same, stating I had never bought a used camera and am a bit apprehensive and asking for something to help me choose one over the others. Since there are (or at least were) 3 or 4 40Ds for sale, each with seemingly similar characteristics like low shutter counts, and seller-rated between 9 and 10, I assumed (bad, I know...) asking questions was appropriate and expected.

I realize now, and accept, that even though there are some very good deals, I am not going to be able to buy a 40D on this forum. However, for future reference, in case I want to buy a lens, or maybe a 5D someday, can someone explain the process? Do I need to join the B&S forum and buy several lower-priced items so I have a rating before I am allowed to purchase something of consequence?

Thanks and sorry for the rambling. Again, free bump for _ -- I\'m sure someone will be along shortly to buy your camera.
