Hardly just a statement, it\'s much more than that.
And while stopping down does improve contrast, like the vast majority, if not all, lenses, it\'s contrast wide open is far from being \"very low\".
100% crop, wide open, shot as jpeg, SOOC with no PP at all.
No sharpening, no contrast boost.
