Couple of shots of the good old roadrunner... no coyotes in sight!

Great roadrunner shots! I saw a few at the park yesterday, but never got close enough. Here's one of you guys in action!

Great shot, #1 is my favorite. I like the detail and also lighting in that shot.

ROFL! :D Look at the intensity of that driving and our aggressive pursuit of the elusive 'perfect' shot!!

Can you spot the Nikon shooter?

Thanks Niko. That light was a bit of a challenge and I think I must have about a dozen that just didnt work well. I just kept snapping!

Nice work spike. Does the road runner really fall thru those black holes?

Trey these are great, love the lighting on him. This young one will need a little practice to keep up with that wiley coyote though.

Lovely shots, particularly the first. I didn't even realise the roadrunner was a real bird! Thought it was made up for the cartoon - excuse my ignorance but I live in Oz and we certainly don't have them here!

Thanks Amanda. They are peculiar little birds that can be hard to capture on film (at least for me!). They can fly but only seem to for short distances, preferring instead to run everywhere, just like the cartoon.

Thanks Jon. And thanks to THicks, DaneFla and Mark Pelletier for an enjoyable photo outing and the chance to meet a few FM'ers face to face.

icon Canon 24-70 vs. 28-70

I've seen many, many posts here and elsewhere declaring the older 28-70 to be sharper than the newer 24-70. One or two members here said they sold their 24-70 in order to go BACK to a 28-70. Photozone's tests seem to support the sharpness of the 28-70 vs. the 24-70 as well.

But Luminous-Landscape did their own comparison at
http://luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/24-70-review.shtml
and found the 24-70 to be sharper ... also, less vignetting at 28mm.

So ... what's the real story? I'm trying to decide between these two lenses and perhaps save a few bucks by going in the direction of the 28-70 ... but not if I sacrifice IQ in the process. Thanks for any real-world input you can provide.
