A while ago I posted that such a lens exists. Today I learned that a Finnish site offers it for sale at 600 Euro. As the Sigma 70-200/2.8 is offered at the same site at 950 Euro and as the Sigma 70-200/2.8 is sold at Adorama at 890$, that indicates an estimated price of 570$ in USA. If the 50-150/2.8 offers the same build and optical quality as the 70-200/2.8, this lens would probably sell very well.
But just imagine such a lens with OS.....
P.S. I searched for my original post but failed to find it. Any idea why?
Looking forward to seeing/hearing about this lens' performance. Yes, a 50-150/2.8 with image stabilization would be a great lens. I really hope Canon has something like that in the works - with IS it would make a killer EF-S midrange telezoom and super companion for the 17-55.
Of course, it would probably also be priced similarly to the 17-55 and probably double what you're estimating this Sigma to weigh in at.

I would not be surprised if they do. It is much smaller and lighter than conventional 70-200/2.8 lenses. Small light and not very expensive. A traveler's dream tele?
While taking a look at the Finnish price, take in consideration that the VAT is 22% here. Also, Sigma lenses are generally about 10% more expensive than elsewhere.
A 70-200/2.8 (HSM DG), for instance, costs 899€ at the store linked by the OP.
Tokina also has one coming out this fall (photokina?). It is definitely an interesting range for a crop, probably much better than 70-200 for kids basketball or hockey. Although, it would have to be a real beauty to get me to part with my 70-200!
