Houston local Lanie Ellis returned to the ring after a time off....looks like she has some rust on the gloves as he was knocked out by Kimberly Colbert from Atlanta.
that first one absolutely rocks. man, i'd hate to crawl into the ring with one of these ladies. did you run these through neat image? the last one looks a bit too smooth. great stuff.
I used Grain Surgery 2.0.. Yea last one came out to smooth..,.Im gonna redo that one...lighting was terrible in the ballroom of the hotel I shot these at...but you do what you can do...Ill prob re-do that last one.... Thanks
It was thanks to your advice on a thread I saw on sportsshooter, I just orderd the 55mm 1.4 I cover events in the Dallas and Oklahoma area such as BJJ tournaments, Dallas Fight Night, some weddings etc. I'm actually covering Carlos Machado's seminar tomorrow between 12 and 4pm here in Dallas.
Very nice pics! Would like to see the color versions. Take care
Bob nice shots care to share your settings? I will be attending world class kickboxing fights tonight and plan on taking my 20D and 70-200mm f2.8 L lens to shoot my friends fight. It is held in a ballroom as well and will be using available light. I will either have to shoot at 70 ring side which still may be way to close or get back and up high and shoot 200. I don't have any other fast lenses right now to work with. I should go pick up a nifty 50 f1.8 tonight...

Bob
Again, thanks for recommending that lens. Afte ryou recommended it I did some research on it and it got fantastic reviews. I should be getting it by next wed.
What part of TeXas are you in? Do you ever shoot MMA events?
dorkn, definitely think to pick up a 50 1.8. It's cheap, does a good job, and will give you 1 1/3 stops of extra light over a 2.8. most of these ring events are horribly lit, even at the professional level.
