Finally got some decent swell up this way. Surfed fun overhead waves at the Lane yesterday and then shot in the evening, then shot some water this morning of Nic Lamb. The kid rips. He's 16 or 17.. The shot is a scan from a slide and my slide scanner is a POS so the colors are kind of crappy compared to the slide, but you get the point..
paranda - Canon 1VHS, 15mm fisheye, with Fuji 100 Velvia slide film. SPL water housing.
darryn - nic ain't you average kid. He's already sponsored by Quiksilver and surfs better than most guys twice his age.
SCOR - PM
Kurt - the swell we've been getting is a south. Hitting nice up here, I'm surprised at least Oside doesn't have any waves... Just talke to my buddy who moved back to Cardiff, he was jonesing on the June gloom..
Steve - nice shot! I have a bunch of pictures of Nic myself, mostly from a 12+ foot day at Scotts. That kid really does rip! So does his dad Tony. Last time I heard, Nic was 14 (probably 15 now).
here is nic messing with Micaela Eastman during the 20th Annual LongBoard Comp. They yelled at him over the speaker system for 15 mins to get out of the contest (women's heat). It was totally hilarious!
SSMedia - I love my digital and the MKII is incredible, but I still nothing nothing compares to a nice Velvia shot as far as Surfing is concerned
RBS - Yeah, I heard about "the Nic incident" No flash, perfect sunlight yesterday morning.
Ziggy - It's not digital, it's slide. The colors are even better on the slide. The blue actually takes over a little in the scan. For instance the lip of the wave and the whitewater in the foreground are actually white in the slide, they have a blue tint in the scan. The only post I did to the slide was set the dark point and light point in the curves.
