It depends on what you're photographing. If wideopen at 15mm with a blue sky you'll easily see it (as it is easy to correct in ACR or similar under all normal circumstances). In other images with same parameters you wont notice, it's only when you're into large areas in the corners with same color/intensity that's it's a problem. Step down or increase focale and it's gone. Or crop. Or so forth... :-)

I would have gone with an f2.8 zoom like the Sigma 17-50 2.8 or the Tamron 17-50 2.8 but the Canon 15-85 is good
Look into the Sigma 17-70 OS darn nice lens for less money. Here is the kicker I don't like Sigma lenses but bought the 17-70 used and love it. I have both lenses you mentioned and I like the sig the most
