I purchased a camera built around an alt lens of mine, does that count?

The photo was kindly taken by the manufacturer, one mr Dean Jones.

Oops yes Derek, That was a typo actually - I had intended 50/2, thanks!

I have a box full of ussr cameras, have no strengths to go through them. Results I have seen are quite good - no wonder as they were copies of Zeiss and Leica. On the other hand, FED1 sounds interesting, must be really old!

Yes Edgar, it's a FED1c, serial number 75225. From what I can tell it was made in '38. (I also recently found the site noted by carstenw). I am quite confident that it's genuine as I bought from a reputable NYC dealer, although I know you've got to be circumspect and the NKVD ones are probably more prone to forgery.

Timballic - you shouldn't be disappointed by the performance and handling of the FD TS 35/2.8.

Thrice - lovely camera!

Daniel, that is a very cool camera. Is it based on one of those old Polaroids? Can you still use that lens on your Ebony? I presume you intend to shoot this one hand-held?

That must be the nicest (and most expensive) Polaroid mod I have seen!

Thanks. When I spoke to the Canon Reps at PhotoPlus they indicated that the neither the 5D MKIII nor the 6D had interchangeable screens. Maybe they are incorrect, but they indicated that I would need their Canon EOS-1D X to get a camera with interchange the screens. Maybe the 5D MKIII aand the 6D need to be shipped to Canon to change the screens. But, that does not give me much confidence if I would need to shim the screens for a non replaceable screen or the Canon Reps didn't know what they are talking about. But...

This would be BAD. I really rely on the precision focusing screen and the 5DII won't be around forever.
I'm not sure if it's true. Look what's also listed on B&H:

Oh, you bought both the 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 ZF... Very nice! 2 of my favorite lenses. Congrats.

Yes, I was watching the forums and eBay for a long time for these, but there were no used ones, or only at prices nearly like new. Finally I found a "nice" 85 for 650, but it turned out to have a scratch and I sent it back. This time I was lucky. I have the Zeiss lenses I want now. I still need to compare the Zeiss to the Leica and decide what to do there...

Two new alts in my bag this week. 35/2 ZE and 100MP ZE. Did already have a ZF version of the 35 which I sold. The Icelandic market is terrible these days and I snatched these lenses for prices that would make you guys cry.

So what's your kit these days, Hrannar? I recall that your old DSLR and lenses were stolen from your car, and you use an E-PL1 for a while? Did you keep that as a small kit?

Yes but I've geared up again Carsten. I've got a 5D Mark II now with Magic Lantern FW and the following lenses:

21/2.8 ZE
35/2 ZE
OM 50/1.2
Leica Summicron-R 50
Leica Elmarit-R 90
100/2 MP ZE

I had a Sigma 70-200/2.8 which I sold to finance the 100MP. Nice lens but didn't use it as much as I thought I would and the 100MP is what my heart wants! I might sell the Leica R lenses eventually but I don't feel like it right now, the 90/2.8 is a great lens and very different to 100MP. I might add the Canon 40/2.8 pancake for those moments when you just need (or feel like) AF. I might add a 14mm Samyang for aurora ...or not.

The tele part is on hold.

Nice kit, Hrannar. If I were shooting Canon, I'd be anxiously anticipating the USM 35/2 IS. If it's good IQ-wise (say on par with the 85/1.8 or better), that would be the ultimate lazy lens on my list. Not exactly a pancake, though.

This has been the week of 58s for me. I got my Rokkor 58/1.2 back from Derek beautifully converted to Alpha, and it works like champ. Infinity's spot on, too, which is impressive since he only had an NEX-7 and adapter to calibrate it.

And from Germany, I got an M42 Biotar 58/2 with the 17-blade iris to replace my ailing 10-blade version with a preset aperture. The new one is much smaller- about half the size of the 10-blader. It's about the same size as my third-version Summicron-M 50, so putting it on the a900 looks a little odd. Actually, it looks pretty odd on the end of the LA-EA1 and NEX-7. The glass is in great shape and it's a T-coated copy, and the iris is a thing of beauty. It's stepless and smooth but not loose. And it's never less than perfectly round. Oh, and the MFD sucks at .9M. So I ordered an M42 to M adapter so I can mount it on the Hawks.

The 6D specs on Canon USA show the 6D as having user-replaceable screens, using the same Eg's the 5DII uses. It only has the 11-point AF. The updated AF system in the 5DIII is apparently the reason they don't want you mucking around with the screen.

Hi Carsten, yep it is a converted polaroid 900 with the focusing knob from the 110b added.
I can remove the lens and mount it on a board to use on the Ebony.
Since it is a coupled rangefinder, yes I plan on purely handheld shooting with this one

Total cost including lens: $1100 AUD.

^ Nice, looking forward to what you can achieve with the 80. I remember seeing a few portraits with the 80 on a D700 - they were stunning.
