With all the positive press for the other sigma lenses, I've been surprised not to find any examples from the 60mm on the nex threads I am renting one this weekend, hoping to find it a viable alternative to the 85l. Does anyone have any experience with this one?

@ebookman, was just reviewing your flower images over the last few pages. Really love the treatment of those.

Thank you. That is kind of you. I never shot flowers until I got on this forum and had so many great examples to study. The following two shots were taken this evening just before sunset. NEX 5n - Minolta Zoom MD 35-70

That first OM 24 shot looks like it came from the RX1. It is even about the same angle of incidence isn't it?

ha, definitely not the end of the rx1, but yeah, same focal length equivalent. i got the OM 24 a little more than a week ago as a package deal along with a NEX-5N i plan to convert to IR. i just took these shots to make sure it was in good working order before i sell it off. i took the liberty of comparing the OM to my rokkor 24/2.8 and and g28 too while i was out. i'll probably post the comparison some time later when i have time, but the short summary is that the rokkor is sharper in the center and the OM is much better outside the center. rokkor has a little more contrast and a little better bokeh, but also a little more CA. the g28 is sharper (or as sharp) than any of them anywhere in the frame on the NEX-5N, i haven't look close enough at the files yet to tell if that is true on the NEX-7 as well. the 35/2 sonnar on the rx1 is sharper at f/2 in the corners than any of the other 3 lenses are in the corners at any aperture. it also is faster and has better bokeh.

Given what most people consider the greatest advantages of the 85L, that would seem to be a fairly tall order for an f/2.8 lens.

No experience, but I'll be interested to read your thoughts on it.

My initial thoughts are good;

I pulled the trigger when I saw it for £150 delivered. Auto focus seems nice, quick and quite. I was using DMF and adjusting slightly now and again. I’m happy with the design and have no problem focusing.

Here is a test shot taken last night, there are a few more boring shots on my flickr stream. Hope to give it a proper workout at weekend.

2.8, ISO 400 I think.

Yeah, I realized after I posted that on its face the statement seems pretty preposterous, but I just meant in the general sense of a short Tele for portraits. We'll see. In further googling it sounds pretty funky, at least mechanically.

Close-ups with the FDn 100/2.8 + Minolta close-up no.2. 52-55mm ring was dented so I just held the close-up on. The butterfly is with the FDn 35/2 + Minolta. Heavy crops. From JPG as I hadn't time to upload/transfer RAWS. I'll come back here later to try and capture the Cinnabar moths!

Some amazing insects here and a some pages back including the ones from highfive and briantho! Makes me want to try some makro.

How about a processed de Tomaso Pantera from this evening? I wonder if that name sound as cool in English as in my tongue. Voigtländer 15/4.5 + NEX 5N.

Thanks Morty and Mesca. Bridge stop. The Volvo is low, but not really visible here because of the modern BMW further back standing on lower ground perspective. But the de Tomaso is lower. Check the face of the driver, a not particularly small guy. He is sitting on the tarmac. That IS low.

(processing is a lot, flirting with current automotive taste)

Car shots look good to me.
And yeah, the name does sound cool in English too, but it does need the accent.

I liked the watercolor effect demonstrated by sebboh and joanlvh over on the RX1 image thread. I decided to try it with the NEX 6 using the downloadable Picture effect+ software. It appears to work like the RX1 effect but it only functions in camera mode, not viewer mode, so you can not apply the effect to a picture you have already taken.
