My oldest daughter with Contax Zeiss Sonnar 140mm f2.8

Isabelle by briantho, on Flickr

My verdict of this lens after a few test shots on NEX (wide open) is that it has very low contrast, isn't very sharp, but that it's actually a very good lens for portraits, as the drawing syle and bokeh is very pleasing (imho) and the colors are fantastic. On the Contax 645 I imagine this lens is the perfect portrait lens, but it's not one of those medium format lenses that are as sharp on smaller formats. Still, it produces some gorgeous photos even on APS-C.

I have been away from this thread too long to comment on all the pics that are worthy of compliments. But this is a very nice church shot, eBookman, and lovely picture of your lovely daughter, Brian! Plus all the usual suspects, Jim and his exotic lenses, Philip Reeve (lovely last shot!), etc...

On my end, getting to grips with my Touit 12. As I have never really been a wide angle shooter, it is a challenge for me.

Not that your other four pictures are less than excellent, highfive, but your first one simply dropped my jaw!

Thanks Philber.
Its amazing how a flash and a homemade softbox make the colors and reflections in these little bugs shine.

No doubt. But still, your subject and composition are brilliant as well! BTW, have you thought about cropping out or cloning out the shadow on the top left? I think the picture might be better without i, but it is only a personal opinion...

That first shot is a show stopper. I would love to see a picture of your softbox.

Amazig macrowork Highfive!

Some from tonight at a Son et Lumière show. Actually these were shot after the show was finished.
First work out with this lens. I like it. 800 and 1600 ISO, I believe.

high five i agree very nice set. First one is my fave as well.

sculptormic - nice set as well. I like the shot with the hand sticking out the VW,hard to believe that with a person right in front of the shot that it would work but you pulled it off nice job.

Derek, that's a nice shot. I knew it would be the g28 right away (given the lenses you typically use) by the clean rendering and pop. Perfect subject for that lens.

This thread always has too many great photos to go back more than a page and comment on. The variation of lenses used with the NEX continues to blow my mind

I had a few (too many) to add, so I posted them on a separate thread

Well done Michiel! Also, forgot to congratulate you on your last "empty street" shot, which was outstanding. But, correct me if I am wrong, this, to me, is not a VW. More like a Morris 1100, with an outside chance of a Peugeot 203.
Jim, your tiger lily is a delight! So easy to find, yet so hard to shoot one in such an interesting manner!

This is with my habitual Summilux 50, inside a greenhouse.

16-50 OSS in my standard testing scene (I can check sharpness and coma issue)

20130713_DSC02152 by Wilfred.Y.Wong, on Flickr

I have the lens for >6 months but never really tested it. It seems weak at the wide end and it needs to stop down quite a lot. I wounder if the 18-55 OSS is actually a better lens. I am considering to leave my DSLR home during my upcoming short trip.

I have not taken the Nex 5n out for a long while. I hardly use it which is a shame. I am pretty sure this is because I did not get the EVF, which for myself, would I am sure, make it a more enjoyable experience.
