Sebboh , Those bird shots are great. I too would like to know how close you were. How did you get that shot with the 19mm?

thanks!

for all the normal and wide angle shots i was in the neighborhood of 2-6 feet away. the egrets are snowy egrets not great egrets so they are only about 2 feet tall.

theses shots were taken in area that is always full of people where the egrets are often able to steal fish or beg fish from fishermen so they are not terribly shy of people. the egrets move in a regular pattern along the beach so i simply position myself where i know they will end up and wait for them to come to me. the ibis shot was an accident, he landed near me as i was shooting the egret. they're usually a lot more shy of people.

all shots were taken squatted down with the camera held as far away from me as i could and as low as i could. i manual focused using peaking on the lcd except for the sigma shot where i was so low i couldn't get a good angle on the lcd and had to use multipoint AF.

Derek, that type of shot with sub100mm can only made with NEX and tilt screen. If use DSLR, the birds would think you use some type of gun pointing them

Received the CZ 24mm 1.8 today. Did not have time for many shoots, but took a couple of pictures.
Love it so far

the same motive, taken with two different lenses. I had to icrease the contrast quite a bit with the Minolta, the Zeiss hasn't seen any PP.

I think Minolta lens wide-open doesnt have much contrast. Even latest ones were not great in this. But maybe it was intention. Nice comparsion.

Btw. which one has "true-er" colors?

definitely prefer the zeiss in this case phillip, the tele compression doesn't really compliment that scene imo.

Shot some stuff this weekend at a bouldering competition, a regional final. Aside from urbex, this is my other preoccupation. I posted into the "Metabones Speed Booster" thread as it was the bigger consideration... but of course this all came out of a NEX-5N, and I even had some special advantages (and some obvious disadvantages, as in no AF) against the two retained pro shooters who were there as well.

Hope y'all enjoy these. The Speed Booster truly does open up some interesting avenues and totally broadens the envelope of what the NEX can do.
