If it is, then you probably have a faulty adapter, or you're looking at the lens without the adapter attached to it. Without an adapter (or an FD mount rear cap) mounted to the lens, the aperture closes to what seems to be the f/7.2 position. With the lens on an adapter, the aperture blades should move completely out of the way at f/3.5 (i.e. a perfectly circular opening).
A lot of great stuff lately! Sorry I haven't posted much. The black and white work on the last few pages has been incredible, really good depth to the images! This is from our fire station in Omaha, Ne. I used the 'toy-warm' filter, in camera to create this. Shot with the Nex 6 and Nikon 28mm, 2.8.
Thanks Al - yeah, I agree. The fourth picture also has a real presence to it that my pictures with the 16/2.8 just didn't have (of course, very different focal lengths). It's easy to get bit by the Leica bug.
These are experimental shots using the Fotodiox Macro Focusing Helicoid Adapter with the Zeiss C Biogen 2.8/35 lens in macro mode. The aperture was between F8 and 11 and the Macro was set at maximum magnification.

ebookman, I like what I see from your C-Biogon 35. So crisp. I think I like it even better then the the Biogon 35/2. And smaller too. A gem, I think.
Thanks for your comment. I feel the same way. The size is ideal and the lens is incredibly sharp. It really shows what it can do in macro mode. The difficulty in these shots with the macro adapter is, of course, critical focus. I can't really be sure of critical focus until PP. I might solve the problem with a little patience using a tripod and the magnified view which is almost impossible for me to use hand-held.
