+1 The DOF looks surreal.
Is this the reason you need LV?
thanks! i could probably do these on an dslr without liveview (but it would be more difficult), it's landscapes focused short of infinity where i really need liveview to verify that focus is exactly where i want it and dof covers exactly what i want it to.
Sebboh, I may never have the patience to do this type of shot. But it simulate the Large format effect quite well. For whatever reason, I prefer this one. Color seems better for sure.

the way i do these shots it doesn't take much patience – no tripod, no precise framing, no worrying about nodal points. they usually take about 30 sec to do (both these were taken as i walked out the door to head to work). software has gotten so good at putting images together that in most cases using a tripod and finding the nodal point of the lens is a waste of time. in this particular shot with all the fine branches at a close distance it actually would have been helpful, but i didn't have time and hate tripods.
it's not really fair comparing color on a wide open shot to a shot a f/4, but i always prefer the color from the leica as well.
@sebboh, 30 seconds is a small price for the results you are getting. You seem to have found a perfect workflow for LF mimicry on NEX, given that your results are always top notch and you are producing such work consistently.
