If you are willing to give up 9 minutes of your life, and are at all passionate about people photography....you need to watch this! It is an amazing story.
"We learn the amazing story of Vivian Maier, a Chicago nanny who took more than 100,000 photos during her lifetime but never showed them to anyone. Now that she's gone and her photos have been discovered, some say she may rank among the top street photographers of the 20th century."
edit: found a blog on her photos as they are scanned:
She had a very good eye for people and Street photography.
I enjoyed seeing the photos.
The video clip (and blog) says there will be a show (her first in USA) in Chicago from Jan - April, with 80 prints on display.
From what was shown on the blog, it looks like she will be considered "important" later as her fame builds (future bio documentary and books in the works already).
A true "hidden talent" as the blog says she never showed her photos to anyone.
Jon. Thank you so much for finding this. I felt very sad that she passed away before people knew of her work. Her photos are incredible. I can't wait for the book and documentary.
Thanks for posting, loved her photos and enjoyed the story. She was a great street photographer indeed and what a shame she did not share her work with others earlier in her life. I would like to see more so i will google her name later
