This is a no brainer. Nikon brand and in order (best to worst) 1.4, 1.7, 2.

You don't mention what body you'll be using. To be safe, the 1.4 plays very well...with good long lens technique.

The 1.7 has excellent sharpness even wide open on my D300.

Ahhhh, going for the most "reach" The TC-17E II would be the way to go then.
There is some sample variation so if you can try before you buy, stunning IQ is possible.
Some guys are satisfied with the latest 2x III, I'm not one of them. GL to you!
