I really hope this kills for Fuji. We need more products like this that are back to basics photography oriented and if this does well you can bet the other camera companies will follow suit.
I'd be all for it being manual focus and manual exposure setting, just like the rangefinders of old. With a decent viewfinder and center split image, and other focus aids, manually focusing a little beaut like this should be no problem.

One key difference between this and Sigma's DP cameras is that the X-100 appears to have both optical and electronic viewfinder capability. The DPs are electronic only, as are the Olympus Es.
+1
optical viewfinder or built in EVF is a must. I am really not going to learn to compose on rear LCD (daylight or otherwise).
that dont surprise me much, with prices of P&S cameras going to 700Eur range and GF-1 body only for 530Eur lol. But maybe they will fall back into the real world.
If it will be fast to operate and lens will be good, i would gladly pay 1kEur for it.
Gregory, add in the cost of an EVF to that as well, plus the fact that it is supposed to have a much better build quality (of course this is not official yet), and also an aps-c sensor vs µ4/3
The price difference to me at least is not as big as one may think.
This is the small camera I've been hoping for, it's going to be the D700's smaller companion. 35mm f2 is a perfect lens for candids. I used to love the color from Fuji S1 Pro. If they can do the same thing with the new processor, it will be a winner.
I like everything about it except the price. Leica may be able to get away with that kind of pricing with their X1, but I very seriously doubt Fuji will be able to do the same thing.
If it has a real metal body and not just metal coloured plastic, or a thin cosmetic layer of metal over plastic, I'll buy one for sure. No practical reason for it other than I like the retro feel of a solid metal camera.
