This image is straigt from my camera, no pp.
(I don't have much experience with pp and right now only have very limited knowledge with GIMP. I can take out dust specks and do some minor adjustments)
This is a view from our camp on a lake in Maine, all c&c welcome.
Good for you using Gimp! All my editing is done with it. I straighten images using the following method: click anywhere on the ruler at the top of the image drag down. You'll see a guide line appear. In this case, drag it down to the horizon. Then, press "shift" and "R" and a popup window will appear. Place your mouse on the slider bar of that window and roll your mousewheel back and forth; you'll see how easy it is to align your horizon with the guide line. When you're happy, click "Rotate" and you're done straightening. All that is left is cropping the image with the crop tool. Sounds complicated? Try it. it's a very fast procedure.
Pretty color. I can imagine some of the pleasure of this view.
As far as photo critique, I agree with Karen on a bit of crop. For most viewers, the photo will not maintain ongoing interest without other features. For your pleasure and that of those visiting, I think it will work well.
