I shoot in manual mode but always with Auto ISO on, almost exclusively at f/7.1 and adjust SS as needed for static or IF shots trying to keep the ISO below 400. I've found that the minor adjustments to ISO produce "best" exposures for the given split second capture. It's not uncommon for the Auto ISO to adjust in a 6, 8, or 10 frame burst as the BG changes while panning. Probably not what the pros do, but it works for me.
