One of my recent 105/2.5 AIS shots with the PK-13 + PK-12 + PK-11 extension tubes all stacked together for some close-up goodness. Hand-held BTW (one of those rare times I'm steady enough to get sub 1/FL shutter speeds). The bulk of the D700 definitely helps in this regard.

Here's a shot taken with the 105 f/2.5 AI-s with a 20mm extension tube attached. This is a really fine lens for such shooting, perhaps my favorite.

I dug this thread out of oblivion to help a member who was weighing which lens he should sell in order to buy the Zeiss 100 f/2. I suggested this Nikon classic as an alternative, one that he could likely afford without needing to eviscerate his existing kit. So I'm happy if folks are sharing a little love once again for this great lens. The Zeiss is a fine lens, but this humble old Nikon lens deserves all the kudos it can. I'd love to see some landscape shots taken with the lens.

This is a panorama stitched together in Photoshop of six or seven shots taken with the 105 f/2.5 AI-s. It is a touch wide but making it smaller really loses the feel. These were shot hand held at f/8.
