Just traded for a Rokkor 58mm f1.2 lens and looking forward to giving it a workout.
Anyone have a source for filters for the 57mm thread on the lens? I checked B&H and Adorama and did not see anything available. Was thinking a PL and a ND would be good to have for this lens.

Are you sure? Lens cap says 57mm and a 58mm filter is just barely larger than the lens threads.
Shawn
yes, i'm sure. i presume you have the metal push on cap that goes over the outside of the lens rather than in the threads, thus it is 57mm rather than the diameter of the filter threads (which is 55mm for all versions of the lens).
It is a plastic push on cap that also has a ridge for the inside of the filter threads. It isn't a pinch cap though. 55mm would be a lot easier, I'll pick one up, thanks.
Any threads on cleaning dust out of the lens? Optics look good but it is a little dusty.

usually the dust in these lenses is just on the glass around the aperture. if you follow the instructions in this video to the point of removing the rear optical block it'll get you to the point where you can clean the two glass surfaces that face the aperture.
Thanks, looks easy. The biggest piece of dust (dead center) is to the rear of the aperture so it looks like that procedure will let me get it out of there.
Thanks for the link to your movie. Just took my 58mm apart and used a rocket air blower to get the dust out. Looks like the vast majority of the dust is gone now. The entire process took maybe 10 minutes.

Derek, nice beach shots with the 28/2!
I just posted some RX1 shots from same beach.
Looks like it was sunnier the day you went.
Haven't had time to do the 28/2 comparison yet.
How do you like it?
