It was a bit funny that night. The Chinese were out in full force. The place is very close to the main stadium where the closing ceremony took place. The whole area was sealed off and you could see more people in uniform, than civilians, police, red army, and others. First I had my tripod in a distance, because of those people in uniform, then I was inching step by step closer to these figures, to have them in the foreground. To my surprise, the uniformed security people were chasing away the local Chinese who wanted to pose in front of these cartoons, but they did not mind me. So, I kept waiting there for the fireworks to begin. In between two red army soldiers approached me and asked if I could take pictures of them.
Quite relaxed atmosphere.
Here's another one from the 12-60 ED. I really like this lens and I'm looking forward to using it on the GH2 very soon. I was out in the dunes on Cape Cod taking some IR photos of an abandoned house when I noticed how incredibly vivid the needles of these pines were, MUCH more than normal foliage, especially as it was an overcast day and they were not in sunlight. I call this shot Anemone Pine for obvious reasons. I posted a larg'ish shot so that can get the impact of the print I made.
