You might take a look at www.photium.com.
Wow...they're kinda pricey.
I own my domain name, so in my case, I was looking for a low maintenance, turnkey, operation. This would have a secure shopping cart, and I could opt to self-fulfill, or use their lab services. It freed me from having to do all the work myself, and, for $99/year, plus around 2%, it was well worth it. My EM site has more than paid for itself, many times over.
However, if you are just looking for a site to host your images, and are not interested in sales, Flickr works pretty well.
I looked at all the hosting sites(except photium-never saw that one), and tried them all out. I did like Smugmug, but became kinda frustrated with some of the features, which I thought detracted from my images, and made the site a little more difficult to use.
I've seen some beautifully designed photo sites out there. In fact, some just blow me away, they are that beautiful. But then what??
I also don't like Flash. If I open a site, and it starts playing music, or doing something on it's own, I'm outta there...see ya. I want to push the buttons....I want to look at the pictures, and I don't want to have to figure out how to do that. The site should be intuitive, not gawdy, over the top, and in your face.
I'm not saying Exposure Manager is perfect, by any means. It serves my purpose. I found other sites that were equal, or better than EM. However, usually it was there fee's that I found to be a bit much.
I can hire a teenage kid locally, who probably has forgotten more about html, java, and all that other stuff, than I will ever learn. But, if I do that, then I have to pay for the "shopping cart"(credit card fee's, and usually a monthly fee), and I have to send the digital to a lab for printing(which I already do). The end result would not net me anymore sales, or profit.
So basically, there is no "one size fits all" solution out there. Some require zero "coding experience", but most require some, at least to "jazz it up" a bit.
I found countless places that allowed me to copy and paste scripts(I guess that's what you call that html stuff), to allow me to get to where I am on my site(which really isn't very far).
But like you, I have zero patience for this kinda stuff(coding), and have next to no experience. I'd rather just be outside taking pictures.
Edit; while I was typing my message, two other people posted. I guess we really need to know if you intend to sell you pictures, or just display them??
Also, I can empathize with this quote;
Then I end up cussing and throwing shit across the room, as if that helps. ....I do that..a lot, when trying to figure this stuff out.
