p.1 #1 · Rip off artists - is there any more originality
On the coat tails of my recent photo RIP off Tony Hoffer look alike, and the comments that followed about folks coming up with original ideas vs copycats, etc...
What is true is that this is a big-ol world and we are all a bunch of small little guys / gals out there shooting and emulating and copying and desperately trying to be original at the same time.
Recently, we were asked to go on a wedding dream job of a lifetime. I took this job as a chance to make a wedding photo that I personally had never seen before as well as some exotic TTD photos (i will post them in another thread later)....
I've posted a slideshow on our blog as well as the story behind this amazing wedding experience in Belize. Take a few minutes, check out the blog...let me know what you think. del Sol Belize Wedding
So many chances to create images that just aren't seen every day.... On the wedding day, I was on 5 different boats!!!

uhh, wtf?
here is the deal. I'm not promoting anything. My topic is "rip off" etc.
I posted a link to reference photo on my topic that I ripped off... no promotion there, who cares really. This photo was shot in 2005...you know, like 35 hard drives ago... This is the fastest place I know how to link it up and directly relevant.
I'm not on here to sale anything. I don't do workshops. I don't promote nobody... i'm not sponsored... we shoot----alot.
I just want to share wedding photos. I could post 10 different images here in this thread OR I could post one, let you decide. My point is that I am trying to highlight originality...
I posted a link to my blog where I have more photos from this "unique" wedding. Is this incorrect?
Sheesh, I feel like I'm in highschool here and do not mean to break rules or piss anybody off folks, just trying to be real and hopefully inspire as I see some serious awesome work coming from here...anyway, hope i'm not breaking rules.

..er...it's just the rule for this wedding forum to prevent people from coming in and SEOing the hell out of FM's high pull with various search engines; to prevent people from coming in and spamming the forum. It's nothing personal and nobody is pissed off, just a blanket rule for here and a heads up. Feel free to add your link in your WWW profile, I'm sure your work is amazing and plenty of people will click that to see more.

Wow, that's a fantastic shot!
I've been following you guys since I read an article about your partnership in Rangefinder (or was it PPA Mag) a while back. Sometime last year I think...

I haven't seen you around these here parts. You're not popular with the locals or you wouldn't have received that comment. That's all. You have to be part of the clique. It is what it is. If you are absolutely positively bored, you can see a thread where someone posted prom pics here in the wedding forum because he knew it would get better kudos from his friends here versus where it should have been posted in the first place.

Kudos to you Matt, nice shot! Your blog had been in my RSS feed for a long while now and I'm glad to see you posting more recently!
Ok, seriously... Matt's a cool and accomplished dude. He asked me about featuring my shot a while ago and really brought me a lot of traffic from his site.
You love to start the sh*t jazzy, but just because I didn't add "Great shot!" to my comment about the links hardly makes it confrontational; just a heads up about linking in the forums.
