Philippe, go for it and you won't regret it. After checking your gear profile I feel Summicron-R 35 would be a great addition to your collection as first Leica-R glass (no modifications required beside R to F bayenet swap)

What are the general opinions and merits of of Leica R Summicron 2/50 (which I don't have) vs. Contax-Zeiss Planar 1.4/50 (which I have; this is the lens that currently spends the most time on my camera)?
Any truly side-by-side comparisons? I'm having a hard time finding any.
I did nothing more comprehensive than a quick series of landscape shots last weekend, going through the aperture range of each of the the lenses above. Having said this, I found that I didn't quite nail focus in some of them and stupidly did not use delay-shutter and/or mirror-lockup when using small apertures, so some were blurred and haven't been included in the comparison.
100% 72dpi jpegs produced from CR2 in Capture One Pro 7. No post-processing, default settings OOC.
Once upload complete, look for my public set 'Cron-R 50 and Zeiss Planar 50/1.4 comparison on 5D Mk III'
Thanks for comments! Jack, LZ, Manu.
LZ, for Leica R and your style. Any lux will be good, but be ware of no auto aperture, which is a pain for hand hold shooter IMO.
Here are few from yesterday with 35cron&6D.

Nice work zhangyue. Seems to me that you have figured out the WB on the 6D!
Thanks for comments not yet! but if other photographer can make beautiful images with it, why can't I. I can't blame camera
more like slightly richer man's XL rx1, i don't know where i could get that combo for less than an rx1 these days.
beautiful landscapes from kauai! i especially love the b&w ones. it looks like you didn't crop after correcting the distortion on the first of those btw.

Wow!! This is great! Thanks for taking the time to do this. After looking through all these shots carefully I think I still kind of like the rendering of the Planar 50/1.4 (which I have already) better. Personal choice, but thanks a lot for doing this!
