B&W is just incredible! What kind of PP did you apply to the B&W? It seems way sharper. I also love the dynamic range that is evident in the B&W version in the snow. In the colour one it just disappears.
I was half expecting this lens to be really bad, based on all the criticism people write about v1 on forums. It's a fantastic lens and it gives me precisely the look I want. The portraits I've taken with it are superb as well. Here's a sample from my recent walk around the city.
beautiful shots above, with a lens which is not appreciated by a lot of people. I don't know why. little vignetting on the second shot
I show you a pano made with 4 shots with my 5D3 and my prefered leica lens : macro-elmarit R 60mm
it is the " massif du mont blanc", from the end of the valley
Here are 5 additional images of Muscari "Bluebells" taken with my tripod mounted 100mm f2.8 Apo Macro Elmarit lens and my Fujifilm X-E1 camera. All images processed in LR4.4.

too big, i never use it now that i have a kid with me most of the time when i go out. was thinking of getting a smaller 300/4 or 70-300 zoom. when kids are bigger i'll spring for the 280/4.

28mm elmarit v1 isn't that bad. It's sharp enough in the center. I used it a lot in the past, and got good pictures.

I agree - it's also got great colour. I find that the leica lenses I've used, regardless of sharpness in the corners, have excellent warmth to their images and a nice softness that I just dont see in other primes.
Received my first leica. summicron-r 50mm e55. Just leitaxed it to nikon mount. I dont have a cat so had to use the fence for the test I like what I see.
As I learned today, focusing on street cat when it wants to cuddle is damn hard. Fence on other hand is much more cooperative subject (or flowers in my case).
