I think I would hold out for the updated version with the New IS. I am sure there will be a price increase with that but the extra 4 stops would be worth it.

I love how they have 6 different LensCoats specifically for the 1200. Seems like major overkill given that there are something like less than 20 of these in existence.

I did think it a bit funny that B&H offers a camo lens coat for this thing... as of you could disguise it somehow... the guys on the space station can prolly see it...

the last round of threads about this thing (when TDP did the test on it for BH) the guy that makes the lens coats (member here I think) had a video of the coat being made.

Do not cross the equator with this lens, the results might disappoint. You can shoot some "African" wildlife with it, but the lens coatings are really optimized to work best with Sports, and, of course, northern wildlife.
