I had some time off work this week and dedicated some time to practice shooting. I finally found a couple willing to volunteer their services while I tried some things I learned from a recent workshop and from the folks kind enough to post their stuff here on FM. PP is not consistent on purpose. Just trying out different things in the hopes of defining my own style.
If there are any you like or don't like or perhaps you have a suggestion or two to make them better, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
solid set of images!
only big nit pick is #6...looks like a snap. a lower point of you from you would have made a huge difference along with a shallow dof.
#7 - i see what you were going for...but again, looks snappish
Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment.
kim, thanks. I will try a shallower dof next time.
Mitch, I actually do have a shot of the shadow only. You're right about the guy being stiff - he used to wrestle and play rugby . I tried to get him to loosen up but it was tough.
rema86 - thanks for the kind words.
jesusq - thanks. centre-weighted metering, I believe.
3. They look a little bit detached. But I really like the pose and the lighting. Maybe the crop could have been tighter and the angle could have been lower to catch a bit more of the sky.
5. I love the sky, the building, and the pose. Each separately though. For me, the shot is too far removed from the notion of "engagement photos". Maybe a closer working distance and just capturing a the great facade of the building would have been more effective. However, I really dig the color on that one!
10. They look like good friends in this pic but that color is hot!
Overall this is a pretty darn good practice run. Seriously. I'm sure when the time comes your real shots will be phenomenal.
