p.1 #1 · Best Canon body for high-ISO pictures?

Hi all!

I'm moving into weddings, and am looking for a second body that renders good pictures at high ISO numbers. Apart from the 1D(s) MkIII and IV (which I cannot presently afford), which Canon body is best for this purpose?

Cheers,
Paul

Nice move Herr. Let the battle of the J's begin.

Or... save some $$ and go for a used 5D (original, not the MKII) - excellent performance at ISO 1600. Should be able to get one for $1200 or so on the buy and sell forum.

Paul what are you using as your first body if it's a 5D mkII then you will know it's the best.

Hey!

I'm using a 1Ds MkII as my first body. Love it, but think that the ISO capabilities have been upped a bit in later models, such as the 5D MkII.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks for the illustrative reply, Joseph! Seems like the evidence is pointing to a rather obvious conclusion.

Cheers,

Thanks everyone for your input! Unless I get word to the contrary, 5D MkII it is. Thinking that the video function will come in handy for private use as well.

Cheers,
Paul

Yep, sure will. Currently using 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 IS 2.8L, and will be looking to get an 85 1.2L as well. Want to move over to primes as much as possible, but presently can't afford the primes needed to cover the range I am covering with my zooms.

Cheers,
Paul

If I may hijack, since the OP seems to have his direction:

~$1,500 body - strictly for high iso (and not FF vs Crop or any of the many other differences...)

5D 1 or 7d?

Once you get into FF you'll want more...
