I think it's great - really like it!

But I'd dial the WM back a good bit...very distracting as is. Perhaps tone down the white areas?

Although you're a long time FM'er, welcome to the forum!

Y,
Glad you are un-lurking.
Interesting image. Very creative.
I'd take some from the top. Not sure if it would improve the image, but I'd be tempted to do some dodging and burning inside the wheel to bring the eye is more, but I like it as is.
Here is a bit of a re-work with some contrast bump, vibrance inc, dodge/burn and a different crop. Let me know if you want it removed. and whether this works for you, or heads off in a different direction altogether.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it much!

Bob, I reread your post about toning down the white areas....I will definately try that.

Hi Jeff, It is camera movement, just spinning the camera.

Hey Scott, No need to remove it......thanks for the help and showing your take. I like this...there are so many takes on this type of photo...it can go in many directions. Looking at your crop and work.....it really draws the viewer into the center....and I almost feel like I am falling down a spiral staircase.

Its always a bit of a question, when to post a re-interpretation, rework. I learn from playing with my images and others. Most times it seems like folks are OK with reworks on this forum, but the etiquette is a bit unspoken.

Look forward to seeing more of your work here, Y. And your feedback about my images and that of others.

Looks like a camera twisted in a stairwell to me. Prefer the original placement of the center of the twist.

Hi AuntiPode, this is a photo of an old wagon wheel leaning against an old barn. No stairs at all. The white is sky and snow.

I forgot to say, I used the Pentax k7 and 14mm prime lense for this.

Oh, I wasn't arguing with what it was, just voicing what it suggested to me. Abstract photos encourage projection and dredge-up meaning that depends upon the viewer - much subjectivity.

I know, it is so weird how you feel like you are falling down a spiral staircase. It is so interesting to hear what other people see in these types of photos.

Nice abstract. Just wishing it had more saturation to better compete with the large white highlights.

Thanks Jim, I have actually tamed down the white highlights in another version, so it does blend better. Of course now I will have to add saturation and which one I like better. .
