p.1 #1 · Need a light?

Recently bought a 5D and here's one of the first photos out of it. I kinda like it, but perhaps the crop could be better? I'm not sure.

Being in focus would definitely help, but truth be told, it's just not an engaging subject. Perhaps if you were using the light from the flame to light a separate object or scene, then you'd have something more worthwhile.

Certainly, focus is an issue but it is a nice study of light and shadow.

I like it it. It still looks as though it could be sharper but it could be that the hand is actually moving slightly, given what may be a longish exposure.

Yes the last one is definately better....although the first one does have some mystery as to what it could be.

In this case, the soft focus on the hand seems to work. However, if you want any kind of depth of field in future shots, you will definitely need to shoot a much smaller aperture than f2.0.
