p.1 #1 · LR3 beta OE recovery

This image was way OE. Was shot with a 5D(clasic), 300mm f/4L IS @ f/5.6, ISO 125, Tv @ 125/sec, AWB, Faithfull, As Shot, Metering Center Weighted, center focus point (best I remember). Don't remember the Ex. Comp, settings, may show up with post (LR3 beta). Made lots of local brush adj.,and curves adj. and the usual slider type adj. LR3. stopped running a couple of times there towards the end (RAM).
I have looked at this so much now, I'm not sure what I think! What do you think?

Thanks,

Looks good to me too. I'd just sharpen it a tad and you're there.

Looks good to me too but I'll be picky for a moment: the blur of the background/trees seem to be incongruent with the blur of the track and wall. Since the trees are most distant, they would trace the largest arc which is not represented by the blur...at least I do not see that movement. Then again, maybe I am totally wrong.

Love her (I assume) pigtails

regards,

Bob

The background was one of the "Local Brush" adj. that I desat. quie abit and lowered the contrast and just about everything you could in the local adj.. The focus point was sharpened, etc., to make it stand out.

PS has a "motion blur" that might be applied (assuming you use CS3 or 4)...AuntiPode would be the one to help there as I rarely use PS.

If you are interested, perhaps others might tackle the challenge of re-working the original should you care to post it.

regards,

Bob

When I clicked on this thread i saw your post, the image and your question. The reply that snapped into my head was:

"Looks good to me!"

Then I read the first three replies which also started with "Looks good to me".

In the back of my mind I could almost swear I heard the theme from "The Twilight Zone".

The original CR2 file was imported to LR3 and converted to a DNG ( no sidecar to worry about). I will look for the Orig., and rename it, (I don't want to resrt mine) and covert and post it as a jpg and look at maybe posting the DNG.

I uploaded the image to my website and just viewed it in a slideshow and now (two days later) it "Looks good to me" too!

Thanks for looking.

Do you have the original? I'm curious about what it looked like and what LR was able to pull out of it.

I found the CR2 file (no adjustments) and imported it into LR3 as a DNG, then exported as a jpg and resized to upload here. The color space is ProPhoto RGB. the camera calibration in LR3 was Adobe Standard when exported as jpg (was shot in camera as "Faithful"). No crop, just as shot.

Have fun!

I take some "non recoverable " and do a Fresco once and a while. I would suggest a litltle noise reduction and mabe play with a drastic curve adjustment,

Now that I've looked at this, I think that I like it better than my first post. I think I will print my large version.
