I'm searching for a tablet to get a bit more deep in the editing part of photography and I would like to know what you guys are using and would recommend me to go for.
I use a Wacom Intuos3 4x5 inch. Be careful about size recommendations. What is fine for one person might not be for another. Bigger is not necessarily better.
I remapped my 4x5 tablet so the active area is only about one-fourth that size. That works fine for me, but it would be much too small for some, just as a 6x11 would be far too large for me.
I picked up a Wacom Bamboo for ~US $70 that has worked just fine. The size is great, the price was definitely right , and it looks like the price has actually come down to around US $50. It doesn't have as many pressure levels as an Intuos but I haven't found that to be an issue.

I'm using an ancient Graphire. I bought it in a pinch and never found the need to replace it. Since I seldom need or want to use pressure levels, looks like I may keep it forever.
I use a Wacom Intuous 3 4x5 and an Intuous 4 Large (12x8).
The large tablet is for drawing with large motions.
The small size Intuous is unlikely to hinder anything unless you need to flail your arms around like me It also lets you keep deskspace...
The intuous 3 will last forever.
The 4 uses nibs like there's no tomorrow (the surface grinds them down really fast.)
Before these I had a Wacom Graphire (I think) with a serial port and a fancy custom paint job AFAIK it still lives on with someone else.
This stuff is built to last.
I would suggest getting the Intuous3 if you can. It's quality stuff.
I haven't tried the Bamboo - perhaps someone wil chime in. The touch functions look interesting.
