In the mid-70s the cast and crew of the popular TV show "Movin' On" was in Shaniko, Oregon for filming.
I was the charter bus driver who had driven them from The Dallas for the day's shoot. So I took a few pics.
Nine shots of the filming of Movin' On.
Hey Charlie, those are great shots. That was my all time favorite show, i was just a kid then, imagine that. They filmed one in WV also which had to do with coal mining. I still have the S. Pruitt sticker off the drivers door of one of the trucks, but we wont go there. Actually met Claude Akins a few years afterwards. Once again, I love the shots, you made my day!
Thanks, Al Kaline (any connection to the ball player? ) and tm.
Yeah, I recently scanned the Tri-X negs with a Canoscan 5600F. They came out reasonably well, I thought.
Claude Akins seemed like an okay guy, although I didn't meet him (I'm not a star-struck kind of person). When his bits were done for the day, a helicopter flew him out- it was cheaper than paying him to take my bus back to The Dalles later in the day.

Cool.
Is that one dude in #5 the "official" studio on set shooter?
I don't see a blimp but then this was on location. I've shot stuff on a sound stage and we always had a blimp.
It was all about the truck for me. Claude just happened to be in a golf tournament that I was shooting several years after that. I thought it was kinda ironic.

Interesting slice of the 70's.
Thanks.
Thanks, Bruce.
I think the guy in #5 was the official "still photographer," judging by the three expensive cameras he was using.
No blimp (unless you're using the word in a "Hollywood" way ).

Yes, that was ironic.
Did you tell him about the sticker you "mysteriously" came to possess?

Awesome Charlie. Thanks for sharing them. The coolscan did a great job too. Did you do much post work on them?
Thanks, Mike.
Not a Coolscan- that's Nikon.
Mine is a $140 Canoscan 5600F by Canon. Flatbed, does prints and 35mm slides and negatives. All the writeups say it is a good performer with no drawbacks. I agree.
These were scanned from negs, and received my usual simple post work: some brightness/contrast, plus some moderate sharpening (always necessary after a scan- no matter how sharp the original). I'm not a technoid, so my processing is ALWAYS simple.
