p.1 #1 · Files opening in the wrong order in ACR

I don't know if this is common, a few too many google searches and a couple searches has has led me back to here to ask the question. Does anyone else have a problem with Adobe Camera Raw opening files in the wrong order? I'm using Photoshop CS2 and every time I open multiple files, they come up in shuffled order.

Is this common? If I upgrade, will the newer versions of Adobe Camera RAW have corrected this?

My CS2 is version 9.0.2 by the way. ACR is 3.7.

Are you opening the RAW files in ACR directly from the CS2 file menu or from Bridge?

FWIW - there are enough improvements from CS2 to CS4 to make the upgrade worthwhile and its best to do it while your version still qualifies for the lower upgrade price.

Bridge will organize this for you, but Bridge is so slow in CS2. The upgrade to CS4 was well worth it, Bridge works much better, ACR is better too. Don't worry about CS5, get the mature version of CS4.

Yeah, I'm loading them directly into ACR. I stopped using Bridge a few minutes into using CS2 years ago because it was just waaaayyy too slow. I think I'll have to look into CS4 or consider something similar to ACR but from another company (CaptureOne, etc.). Because I'm shooting sporting events, I've had to just save everything as the original filename, and then batch rename in the proper order using Finder in Mac OSX. It's still a pain looking at photos in the wrong order, though, especially when shooting bursts.

the OS doesn't define the order in which files come in when you open more than one at a time through an open dialog. you get them usually in the order they were added to the directory but depending on how much you use and delete entries in a directory, it can be a lot more complicated. if you care about order, you open them one at a time.
