p.1 #3 · What cheap monitor 22-24"? | |
I think any of the 24" <$250 ones that show up in this search are good and about the same:
http://www.google.com/products?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&q=24+inch+monitor&scoring=p
I have two LG Flatron L246WH ones from about 4 years ago that cost me like $350 each (at the time). They're the cheap-o TN panels like in this list and they's good enough. About one in 300 to 500 photos that I decide to edit heavily (meaning like, 1 in 3000 to 5000 photos of total taken) I notice the TN 6-bit color dithering - usually in the lower blacks but sometimes in very pure colors with very gradual gradients too. In the other 299 to 499 images I couldn't detect it no matter how hard I try. The LG's I'm using have HDMI, 15 Pin Analogue, and Component video inputs as well as a USB hub and something kind of mini-pin-jack for something to do with audio but I don't know/care how that works. Mine are advertised as 1000:1 but when I investigated about this spec I found it's meaningless and just a number the manufacturer makes up basically.
I think maybe these are the same as mine but mine are 1920x1200 native rez. and that says 1920x1080. <shrug> It looks the same anyway. thin square frame, round base, power switch at right.
I wanted the thin frame so I could put them on a dual stand in any orientation and not be bothered by a hugh gap in a stretched app or desktop.
About half way down this list I see an "Lg Electronics 24-inch Led Lcd Monitor" for $370 new on ebay that looks pretty sweet!
Good luck finding something. When you get it write up a review for us.
