I know, I know it's another camera bag thread. Right now I don't have a camera bag that will fit all of my gear. I have to rotate between 2 bags or just carry something outside of the bag. (aka I need a new bag)
I can't decide between a shoulder bag or backpack. I think right now I would like a backpack because it would be more uniform distribution of weight. I've had a shoulder bag before and after a while my shoulder gets sore and hurts.
So, here is my gear as of right now:
Canon XSI
Canon EOS 35mm film body
70-200 f/2.8IS
Tamron 28-75 f/2.8
nifty fifty
kit lens
Canon 430EX + another flash I got off ebay with my EOS
plus chargers and varies manuals and cords
I've been looking at various bags and now I just don't know.
Oh, another thing. I would prefer not to spend over $250 on it.
Thanks for your help.

Some place called the Case Club has the 1510 for $121.33, plus the cost of your insert choice. Dividers run $49.03. Lid organizer is $26.10.
Amazon.com for the 1510 with dividers. 159bucks and free shipping.
I just purchased a Crumpler 8 Million Home bag and it is great for taking with me when I want to go out and shoot. I am carrying a 7D w/battery grip, 70-200 F4 attached, 24-105 L and 85 1.8. I could also get a flash and a few accessories in it as well or another small lens. It may be something you want to take a look at. It is a shoulder bag, but it provides me with easy access to my camera when I want to take a shot.
I have basically the same lenses as you (except I have the smaller 70-200/f4 lens). For my second camera bag I wanted something smaller that I could rapidly access the equipment; the choice was between a LowePro AW200 or Tamrac 9D slingshot. I went for the AW200. Cost was $90
I spent a lot of time researching bags and recently settled on a Kelty 2650 backpack, had the zipper redone so it opens up completely then fitted a 4" piece of foam core with cutouts for my gear. While still not a perfect solution, so far, this is working quite well. I found the pack for about $60, zipper redo was $40 and the foam core about $20.00.
My gear includes:
EOS 50D
XTI
100-400mm IS
24-105 IS
nifty-50
10-22mm
100mm Macro
1.4 TC
430EX Speedlite
The 50d is stored with the 24-105 and the xti stored with the 10-22. I have plenty of interior/exterior pockets to store odds and ends.
I did something similar to that when I first started out. DIY my own bag, and it works great.... I've just outgrown it
I was looking at the Lowepro Flipside line as a possible option.
I've had shoulder bags before and I like the convenience of them being right there, but after a while my shoulder just hurts. I will probably get a shoulder bag later, but right now I think I would prefer a backpack that just fits everything. I'm tired of having two bags to put everything in instead of one.
maybe look at a medium or large tenba shootout if you want to go shoulder bag.
I love mine eand can fit tons of gear in (eg similar amout, and i use a medium so maybe a large is better for ease of use) just understand that you may(probably will) need to take the lenses off the body for packing efficiency
