Working on this panorama of Durdle Door. It's been lying around for over a year, but thought I'd try and polish it up. I'm fairly happy with how it is so thought it was time for some feedback. I've linked to it below as it is 1600px on the long edge (scaled down for the web).
Very interesting. Beautiful spot. Panoramic format definitely is the way to go here. Moody sky adds nicely to the scene.
Are these the natural colors? Looks almost like a duotoned image.
Only question: Is there any more room at the bottom to complete the edge of the beach? Feels just a bit cut off there. But plenty nice as is!
Thanks for your responses. Don't know whether that rock would be there at high tide to be honest. I'll consider cloning it out, but it's not really bothering me tbh. Nope, unfortunately these aren't natural colours. The day I visited was unbelievably drab. The processing started out as a LR preset, but it's been heavily modified since then to an extent that I'd call it my own rendition.
As far as crop goes, there isn't really any more to be had at the base of the picture. With the help of a bunch of cloning, I've added a tiny little bit, and while I definately know what you mean about the beach feeling 'trimmed' I can't decide whether I prefer the taller crop. What are your thoughts on the two options below?
Nice work! No stitching lines seen by me, at least at this resolution. I like the duotone effect and the way you've retained the luminance of the sky. I prefer the second version with a little greenery to isolate the contour of the beach.
i like the second better also, also think spot removing or cloning the rock out of the water could help a bit. i was also going to see if there was more room to show the shoreline and the green at the bottom of the photo, if there is more i would show just a bit more
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Have decided to stick with the rock in the bay, but have made some adjustments to colour and tone. The final edit is below. Your help has been hugely appreciated:
