I must be thinking of a different camera; this one has 28f2.8 lens. the one I was thinking of had a 35mm lens; hum - though it was a fuji but now i'm not sure.

It does show the shutter speed in the viewfinder....
In aperture priority the shutter speed is shown in the viewfinder.
In program mode the aperture is shown on the top plate LCD and the shutter speed is shown in the viewfinder.
