p.1 #1 · Centre-Point AF Query 40D - Nevermind, idiot.

Hey guys,

On my 40D I have the AF on the star button, centre point only. Now yesterday when I came to use it, centre point AF wouldn't lock on anything at all (Just keeps hunting), a variety of subjects in a variety of lighting conditions. Ended up having to MF all day. Usign Tamron 17-50mm 2.8

If I stick the camera on auto, the centre point seems to work then but its trickier to tell because all of the AF points are working. I havent had the chance to try a different lens, but I dont think its the lens because it seems to focus fine in Auto mode.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Rowan

Have you tried testing various focus modes? Single short, servo, etc. Have you also tested the other focus points in single point selection, as well as triggering AF start with the shutter release?

Ahahahahahahahahahahaha woops! I'm in servo! I don't use it very often so didn't think about it, but had to use it for a shot the other day. Pretty sure i've done this before!
