I camped out at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park this weekend. Things did not materialize quite the way I planned, but that is the way it goes. What are your thoughts on these two? Is there enough interest? Thanks.
Daniel
Really like the overall comp of #1 and the patterns in the sand really add a nice touch of interest to the image, you really have some nice atmospherics as well in #1, nicely seen
Hello Daniel, love the intense contrasts in the first one. The relatively large size and heavy darkness of the stump overpowers the smooth time-lapse feeling of the second. Thanks for sharing the stay.

I quite like the first. The trees distract me a bit, i think maybe because the sky in the middle of them is brighter than outside them. That might be because you merged two exposure and trees are hard to merge, or maybe just one of the bright patches happened to align with the trees... either way, it distracts me a little, and I might try burning the area a bit. However, I still quite like the image.
#2 isn't bad, but it looks like a case of 'hmm let me find a foreground anchor', when the image would have actually worked better without one. I am commonly guilty of this, too.
Love that first one! The ripples in the sand, the bit of color in the sky, and I like the tree's in it. That one rocks! #2 is nice too, I would crop out that small dot of black in the water along the right edge about center on that edge. Maybe pull a bit more detail out of the stumps in the foreground...
Ok, once again I guess I am against the grain here but the first one really doesn't have a nice composition at all to me.
The whole comp is backwards to anything I would have shot, whereas #2 is the one that really appeals to me. The only thing I don't like about #2 is I find the log is a bit too high up in the frame and would look better lower to the bottom.
Someone once told me it's a bad idea to smack the horizon right in the middle of the photo. But I think it works wonders here: both the sandy ripples as well as the colored clouds are eye-catching. Both pics are beautiful.
