I need some help guys. A female contacted me saying that she wants to put a portfolio together so she can get into modeling. My first question is how many looks should we shoot? If we shoot lets say 3 different looks how many pics should we use from each look? I usually don't like cropping my pics into a different ratio so would a portfolio in a 3:2 ratio not look profesional?
I have a HP 9180 so I wanted to offer her a packaged deal where I would take the shots and print them myself. What price range should I been thinking of charging her for this type of package?
This is the first time I will be shooting something like this but I am really interested in doing future shoots like this so I really want to do a great job. You guys can check out some of my work here www.leonardosilverio.com.
If it's the first time for you, you should not be charging the client. Do a TFP (trade for pictures), and give her limited rights to use the photos in exchange for you getting to use them in your portfolio.
I'm a strong advocate of "don't practice on paying customers." If you are not experienced and confidant in what you're doing, you have no business charging someone money.
TFP shoots are a great way for both the models and the photographer to build up their portfolio, and gain confidence and experience.
In my area any actor shots are wanted as 8x10 so you need to make sure to shoot and crop to that size. That is a standard headshot size sent out to clients looking to hire talent.
