I ordered one a little more than two weeks ago from Adorama and a day after they sent me the email that said the didn't get i one in, I got an email saying they just got it on Monday and shipped it off... be here Friday.

Nowinstock is an email notice service more than a way to see whether a retailer has stock ready to order. The site somehow gets a jump on notice that a retailer you've registered has received stock. It seems to be virtually real time. I don't know how many they received on the 28th, but I ordered right away and got the rig. I expect they were gone by 1/2 hour depending on how many they had. The immediately preceeding notice from nowinstock, about a week earlier, went through 120 units in about two hours according to reports here.
Best bet is to register BH on nowinstock and then call immediately when you get the email.
John: That's great news! I've got to believe that phone orders are the way to go when the 'in stock' notification comes along. The online ordering process takes long enough that the camera can be available when you start the process and no longer available when you submit.
Yeah, I checked at 1:30pm - out of stock. Went to doctor's appointment, returned at 3:30. Had e-mail from notinstock - called B&H - sold out already. They would NOT take a pre-order. This is ridiculous!
Are you saying you pre-ordered at B&H? When I called, they refused to take pre-orders.

I believe there's a limit to the number of pre-orders they'll take. Same day John pre-ordered, I called a short while later and was told they were no longer taking pre-orders.
I lucked out when I called, was told the MKIV was sold out then the guy said that they were taking pre-orders. I PM'd Russ right after getting off the phone with him and he called and they already stopped taking anymore. So it was pure luck for me.
Lousy stinking blizzard! It's supposed to go out today with UPS for delivery on Fri but they are getting bombarded now and I don't think I'll be seeing my MKIV until next week now
That $99.00 annual membership has paid for itself so many times.
