mcarlson Offline Upload & Sell: On p.1 #3 · NetCam gets smoked by Ovechkin As I mentioned on the SportsShooter thread, it looks like a newly designed model by Getty/NHLI photographer Bruce Bennett - Netcam 2.0 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICSinv-HyhY ). Video might be of interest to those who may be wondering more about setting up goal cams. The 'velcro' is supposed to be the ultra-locking, duo kind, allegedly much stronger than real velcro, but the one thing we wondered about when we saw the design was the ability for it to withstand a direct shot. While the gear was protected, it did delay a nationally televised game right after a goal (momentum is something I'd hate to rob a home team of while I crawled into the net to pick up pieces...). After the Olympics I hope to be able to post something about the goal cam equipment used up there - the guy I work with at the Lightning, Scott Audette, constructed the ones to be used during the Games. John Korduner Online Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #4 · NetCam gets smoked by Ovechkin My impression of the delay, was it was due to the photographer setting the camera back up...instead of just pulling the gear. You could see him stuffing the camera and PW back into the enclosure, and closing things up. That led me to believe there wasn't any damage...and also curious if he even knew where it was pointed or focusing for the rest of the game. Feb 08, 2010 at 07:10 PM

Rick Denham Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #5 · NetCam gets smoked by Ovechkin no damage to the camera, just the guts fell out. it happened to me once, had 6 guys on the net and dislodged the arm causing the netcam to go loose. simply ran out and took it off, much faster than re-setting it. i did hear that bruce has developed a new netcam v2, and also that sanford has developed a new one. both are two piece, but sanfords has a convex front element allowing the puck to deflect much easier. i was kind of shocked to hear they were going to a two piece design, for the simple reason of being able to withstand a shot, guess that answers the question, at least the gear was still good. i think i would rather stick with my 1 piece design. ***side note for all those reading, by one and two piece designs, we are talking about strictly the lexan portion of the netcam, not the entire thing.*** Feb 08, 2010 at 09:57 PM
