I was really waiting to see if it could get any better with a new camera but as others have said even with a brownie you could blow us away. It would actually be interesting to see a few of your raw files just converted to see what you are starting with. I know you are a post-processing master and I think I and otherswould benefit by seeing the original image and what you can do with it.

Hey Jody,
I love all the shots with your, JUST KIDDING, MKIV. But even better, I liked the rescue Swan story. Some stories do have good endings. Thats nice to know these days. I think you deserve the Cigar for the photos and for the rescue!

Well the other guy and I shook hands for a job well done freeing the Swan.

Good stuff, nicely sharp and well coloured. Glad to see that your new camera seems to be working good.
A couple of minor suggestions :
There is something I call "Kinetic framing" of BIF....if the above ducks/pijuns were given more of the bottom air space, in addition to the "noseroom" you've done nicely, that would convey a better sense of the birds riding "aloft".
Also, I am partial to non-sky backgrounds for BIF, shot more on the "level", but that's kinda individual too. .....to my taste any background is generally better than empty sky for BIF. If the two last BIFs had backgrounds like the other BIFs you showed in this post, they would look even better IMHO....Show more →
Thanks for the suggestions! Most of these are full frame, so I would have to add frame to accomplish this though. I agree about non sky backgrounds, but hey sometimes you can't get into the right position or the location doesn't provide a good BG.
