I am having trouble with certain files missing in LR2. Let me expand on that a bit.
I import my files using a CF card reader to LR2 on a portable external hard drive on my MacPro. (the native hard drive is too small). After the import is completed, I find that some of the files are blank; and some of the files say it cannot be read.
I know it is not the particular CF card that is the problem; because it has happened with different CF cards.
I know it is not the camera, because it happens with CF cards either with my D700 or D300.
Interestingly, when I imported these same files from these very same CF cards to my windows PC directly to the hard drive, without LR2, all the files were imported properly, and are available for viewing and editing. But, when I copy these files using a flash drive, and try and import them to my LR folder on my Mac, the same files are missing!
This is a recent phenomenon, only for the past three or four days; and I have been using LR for a while now.
Sorry for the long-winded question, but I wanted to provide as much information as possible, so I could get a suitable reply.
Appreciate any help from the experts on this forum.
1st thing to check is the version on your mac and PC. if the mac is lower than the PC one that could be the issue.
An update to 2.6 would be a good thing to do anyway.
When you say 'some' of the files are blank what do you mean?
are the 'blank' files RAW?
can you see other RAW files from the same camera?
Are the 'blank' files a non standard raw format like sraw (i dont know if the D700/300 put out non standard RAW)
If its any of the above then the Update to 2.6 should sort it.
If not check all your import settings.
Also try a couple of files direct to your mac harddrive . I know you say its too small but you need to do this as part of fault finding. It may be a case of a bad/slow/incompatable drive
