Thanks to a fellow FMer, I scored a fantastic deal on a pristine 1v HS.
I am so unbelievably thrilled over this camera, makes me want to burn through rolls of film like there is no tomorrow.
I thought that the 5D mkII was built solid, but this body takes "solid" to a whole new level. The sound of the shutter and film advancing is like sex to my eardrum, I am relatively certain that the excitement factor is going to take a long time before I get tired of it.
What a kit. Can hardly believe I paid $800 for the whole package, including charger, battery pack, two sets of battery holders for the power grip. I doubt that the $2000+ F6 is that much better...
Congratulations, now get out there and put it to use!
I have a 1n, bought new in 1996 that sometimes...gets fired up. I used it all throughout college for the paper & yearbook...great camera. The 1V could only be better.
Congrats. that was a good price overall. I have 2 1V-HS's, they are superb cameras and as Aberdeen said, the best SLR Canon has ever made, bar none. I can't imagine anything better for small-format shooting.
Is the only difference between a 1V and the 1V HS the additional grip PB-E2? I just bought a 1V myself, still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. It does not come with a grip and I wonder if there are any other differences.

Congrats on your purchase! It is, as Aberdeen Photo said, the best slr that Canon has ever made and is an absolutely wonderful camera to use. It really does make you want to use film! "Sex to my eardrum" is a great way to describe the way the sound of the camera makes one feel, although the sound at the full 10fps makes you feel more like you're firing a weapon. Enjoy your new camera. I still like mine as much now as when I bought it brand new 7 or 8 years ago and I don't plan to let go of it anytime soon.
If your looking for two more, I think I know someone selling 2. In fact he was asking $350 for one with two batteries and $250 for one without batteries. One body is in excellent condition, the other I would say is in very good shape, some marks on bottom and on hot shoe, slight wear on grip areas. If he still has them, I bet $500 would take it all

Thanks for the offer mate, but I currently have already too much choice between bodies and lenses. And considering that I am a bit ADD when it comes to photography, less choices is better for my sanity.

Like buLLets said correctly, the only difference is the vertical power boost grip PB-E2. It adds a significant amount of weight to it, unless you really need the extra speed or are adamant about using the vertical controls, you can do without.
Actually, coming to think of it, another reason for the grip may be that you can shoot with rechargeable AA batteries and not the pricey 2CR5 Lithium batteries. As an alternative, you can look into the battery grip only (BP-E1), but I am yet to find it anywhere. It'll give you the ability to use AA, but still won't give you the vertical controls.
