p.1 #1 · first try with white

I havn't had a chance to shoot much lately so I dicided to go out to the barn (photo studio) and see what I can do with a white backdrop. Any and all comments would be appreciated.
thanks Jim

I like the second one more but I don't know why.. maybe because she is brighter. I feel like there should be a Christmas tree behind her

I've never tried a white background either but I'll tag a stab at some suggestions since you venture out for me. Actually before I say anything I bet if you were to put this on a card with some text in the upper left corner I wouldn't change anything. That may some up what seems strange, the white is so strong but uninteresting that it makes anyting around the subject seem really busy.

Since you can't blow out your background try more soft light on your entire subject and do some creative PP. I'd maybe try dropping clarity way down for the whole thing in LR and keep the eyes clear. (okay I just tried that and it emphasized the busy-ness of the shirt and blanket. If she were dressed in a flowing white gown I bet it would be mint!

Love the confident look in the first one, but the way she is looking at the camera her eye looks crossed.

Thanks for the feedback, I realize the props and wardrobe is less than ideal, but I was mainly looking for lighting suggestions, This was an impromptu with my daughter just to see if I could blow out the white. And wow she does look a bit cross eyed.
